Karen Eliza is an interior design student who combines her passion for design with her extensive experience in art, movement and meditation. Her approach with clients is collaborative, gentle and intuitive. Working in both commercial and residential applications, she is focused on creating calm & eclectic modern spaces and sustainability.
Biography
In the past several years, Karen Eliza pursued a bachelor’s degree in interior design while working as an intern for a commercial health and wellness interior designer. Her real world design contributions span various projects including a dental office, low-income housing, a boutique gym, and several residential spaces. She attributes her eye for composition and color to her love for travel, art and music. Her design aesthetic is influenced by her background in fine art and composition. She creates innovative concepts that blend modern playfulness with functional layouts and nature-inspired elements.
Karen Eliza also brings a rich background in Fine Arts, holding a BFA in Contemporary Dance from the North Carolina School of the Arts. She worked as a freelance professional dancer in New York City for a decade and then lived, performed and taught dance in Berlin, Germany.
As a dancer, she focused primarily on improvisation. A practice that influenced her connection to the present moment through playful engagement. She also completed a year-long meditation teacher training in Indian traditions during her time in New York City, where she helped to organize meditation events and retreats for three years. Recently, she studied the practice of presence with Eckhart Tolle.
Karen also has a long history of working with private clients, starting with her first teaching job in NYC as a personal fitness trainer. She values the personalized approach of one-on-one sessions, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of every client.
She enjoys cooking vegetarian cuisine, yoga, contemporary art, non fiction books, ambient electronic music and currently lives in Raleigh NC.
